Breastfeeding Preparation
Breastmilk is the only food specially designed for your infant, and like other aspects of parenting breastfeeding is something we learn how to do. Mom's Cocoon provides a helping hand to support you in taking the first steps in developing your skills as a breastfeeding parent. Breastfeeding preparation classes are held monthly. The two-and-a-half-hour class, is taught by Lea Rivera Todaro an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. Topics covered include:
Learning about newborn feeding cues
Proper latch and positioning How to know your infant is getting enough milk
Common problems and how to avoid them How to troubleshoot if a problem occurs Pumping, milk storage guidelines, bottles, etc Diet and nutrition Managing your expectations and your family's too

Brief Bio: Lea Rivera Todaro Lea has worked in the field of breastfeeding support and program evaluation for the last 3 years and has been a CLC since 2009 and IBCLC since 2010. She is the founding Director of the Elmhurst Hospital Lactation Clinic and is the Regional Representative to the United States Breastfeeding Committee. She currently works for the Mount Sinai School of Medicine supporting community engaged research and is birthing her third baby – a doctorate in educational research.
